HEALTH MINISTRIES

Crosswalk Fellowship Church places a significant emphasis on a healthy lifestyle. First of all, God wants us to be healthy, and the choices we make daily effect us. Habits we develop, good or bad, effect us for better or worse. You’ll find health principles communicated in our preaching and teaching, in the seminars presented, and in the activities comprising the life of the church.

Secondly, it is difficult to fulfill the mission that God has given us, as a church or as individuals, if we are not healthy. We believe that God has given us in His Word principles for healthy living that we must make part of our lifestyle. If you can apply the principles listed below, they will become a foundation for a healthy lifestyle and a happy life. Get a N-E-W S-T-A-R-T in life!

Nutrition - Proper nutrition is the foundation of good health and recovery. To encourage a healthy diet, Crosswalk Fellowship offers a cook book with some members’ favorite recipes. There’s a big variety from which to choose, but each is demonstration of how healthy eating can also taste good! Cooking classes, vegetarian potlucks, and health seminars at Crosswalk emphasize the importance of nutrition to a healthy lifestyle.

Exercise - Getting that body moving is one of the best things you can do to get healthy! Without exercise one loses muscle tone, and it doesn’t take long to lose your strength. The benefit of exercise affects your mind and your spirit, just as it improves the health of your body. Come join Crosswalk Fellowship on one of our many exercise outings at the park, and get some exercise!

Water - Because the body is 70% water, it’s essential to drink lots of it! Too often we “tank up” on soft drinks, coffee, and tea, but the body prefers just good ole clean water and lots of it. Drinking lots of water--and less of the other beverages—is an often overlooked essential to health. Water is just as good for you “inside” your body as it is “outside.”

Sunlight -Sunlight is a critical element to a healthy lifestyle. God established the sun to sustain life for plants, animals, and human beings. The Texas sunlight gets a bit warm during the summer months, but sunlight regulates the body’s metabolism and hormonal balance. While one should avoid over-exposure, at the same time one needs to avoid under exposure. The amount of sun you get on a “Clean up the Park” excursion with Crosswalk Fellowship is just about right!

Temperance -Balancing your life can be difficult. Even some good things must be done or used moderately, and bad things should be avoided altogether. Don’t drink alcoholic beverages if you want to be healthy. Crosswalk Fellowship offers smoking cessation classes periodically to help you live temperately.

Air - Breathing pure, clean air is essential to good health. Well, that sounds easy, right? Not in today’s world of pollution and “sick buildings”. Whenever possible, exercise out-of-doors. Join Crosswalk Kids Adventurer’s Camporee where there is plenty of fresh, clean air to complement the fun!

Rest -Your body, mind, and spirit need rest. In fact, at creation God created rest on the seventh-day. He rested on that day, and He set that day apart for man to rest from his labors to have time to commune with God. It’s a special sign of our relationship with our Creator. Crosswalk Fellowship encourages you to rest on the seventh-day, and join us for worship on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. It’s for the whole family!

Trust in God -The foundation of a healthy lifestyle is trust in God. Not only did God create you, but He sustains your life, as well. Crosswalk Fellowship understands that to trust God you have to get to know Him. That’s why Crosswalk Fellowship offers Bible classes currently on Saturday and Wednesday, and individual Bible studies on every day of the week. Get to know Him, and you will trust Him—with your health and your life!
